PAD A GIRL CHILD CAMPAIGN
Menstrual Hygiene Day was on May 28th, But the awareness still continues!
Menstrual Hygiene Day may have just passed, but the fight to ensure every girl has access to safe and healthy periods goes on. Here at Ewaade Care Foundation, we’re gearing up for our upcoming “Pad a Girl” campaign, aiming to educate and provide sanitary pads to over 500 girls in the Makoko and Ikota Lekki slums.
In the lead up to this crucial campaign, on May 25th, 2024, our team conducted a pre-visitation to both Lekki and Makoko. This invaluable experience allowed us to gain firsthand insights into thechallenges these communities face regarding menstrual hygiene. We connected with residents and gained a deeper understanding of their needs.
The “Pad a Girl” campaign itself will take place on June 1st, 2024, with a presence in both Makoko Slum and Ikota Lekki Slum. Our goal is to not only distribute sanitary pads but also to deliver educational sessions on menstrual hygiene management. By fostering open conversations and providing resources, we hope to break the silence and stigma surrounding menstruation.
